Despite a slowdown in development, Lancaster County leaders are still busy planning for our future. To promote discussions on this important topic, the Lancaster County Coalition for Smart Growth is sponsoring a Land Use Forum for municipal leaders, planning commission members, design professionals, elected officials and the public on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Lancaster Farm and Home Center.
AGENDA
- Keynote Address: Ronald Bailey, a member of the PA State Planning Board, will share his perspective on the history of Smart Growth initiatives in Pennsylvania and the on-going planning challenges facing communities statewide.
- Panel Discussion: Ray D’Agostino, Executive Director of Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership and the current Chairman of the Lancaster County Planning Commission, will serve as the panel moderator presenting questions on this important topic to:
- Mark Stivers, Director of Planning for East Hempfield Township
- Barry Smith, Manor Township Manager
- Mike Rimer, Manheim Township Manager
The panel will share their thoughts on the benefits and challenges of implementing Smart Growth principles and address how their respective municipalities have reacted to more compact and changing development patterns.
